I have a 1986 coupe. I am going to install a set of Hooker Headers 2149 with the EGR hook up. I have read that the rear alternator bracket will not bolt up with the headers. Has anyone used the bracket from a 1985, it looks longer? Does anyone have any ideas?
Seen it on here, go to the hardware store and get some of that conduit pipe. Cut a length of pipe, crush both ends and drill holes and paint with hi-temp paint if you want. GL!
As you can see in the photo, I just extended the original bracket so it would fit on the 3rd bolt back instead of the first bolt..My Hooker headers came with small extention tubes that you can use with your original bolts so you can hook a bracket to it. You can either use a piece of conduit pipe like mentioned above, or like I did using the original bracket , cutting it in half , and welding a rod in between to get the proper length...WW

I modded the factory bracket just like WW7 did when I installed my Hedman Elites.
One thing to check with Hooker headers is the rear A/C compressor bracket. The OEM bracket worked fine but I did have to do some filing on the bracket near the header tube to get it to slide on the stud. You may wind up having to make a custom bracket for that side.
I did this when I made my pulley delete set up.
moved a alternator in as close to valve cover as I could get it and reclocked the back 180 to make the wires face down. that also put the mount on the back up closer.
