Default My first project went successfully.....I think.

Well I finally did it. I replaced my stock injectors with FMS 30's on a stock LT-1, TOO MUCH FUEL you may say? Well I thought that too. -=jeff=- customized a chip for me to turn the learn down on the fuel throughput and well, it SEEMS to be running fine. My cylinder 5 had a leaky injector and after replacing them I notice a significant smoother run through the RPM range. One thing I noticed about the FMS injectors is that they're about 1/8" shorter than the stock ones. I noticed they don't seat all the way into the fuel rail like the stock ones do. Well, I installed them anyway and checked for leaks and I don't see any.

One thing I did notice is that my exhaust now gurgles and pops when slowing down or in between shifts more than before. I didn't notice it doing it in between shifts before I replaced the injectors but now I do. What is that caused by? Can it be stopped? I'll probably have to start another post for this. I might add I don't notice any visible smoke coming out of the exhaust but it does smell a little rich while idling for the first 10 minutes. I could understand the first 3 minutes due to open loop mode, but it does smell rich for a while after.

Anyway it was a piece of cake. I LOVE fuel injection. Tuning and rebuilding carbs SUCKS! Thanks again -=jeff=- Check out my sig

No Problem!!!

Now that it is together we should Hook up my scanner and get some readings to see if we need to tweak a bit here and there.. My guess we may..

Sounds good to me. Let me know when you're available, what do you think about the exhaust gurgling?

Is the new injectors the same size as the old one? The popping noise upon decerleration is you are still running too rich.

Yeah, that's what I thought. The stock ones were 22# and these are 30#. I know it's a lot, but I had my chip modded on tuner cat to turn the learn down. I'm going to get the chip re-tuned though and see what happens.

Thanks.

Yeah that could be.. I am getting the same with my 89 and 30# injectors, BUT when my Scanner is hooked up I get 128 BLM +/- 4. Mine is not real bad, since I still have a few area that need tweaking.

Matt, I will email you this weekend to set up a time..
