So I took my car into Safelite to get the windshield glued back into place. They were able to resuse my own windshield but when I got it back it was very clearly NOT RIGHT. I waited a day and went back to readdress the issue with management. This is after they explained to me that it would "settle in"!!! Aparently Im an idiot that they thought would believe that aluminum needs to settle and that the cut the put in the rubber was no issue! But I did get to pay for the rubber as it was new! Anyway I digress. They tore back doen the left side for me as it was the only one this bad. An they concluded that there were no other holes so it must be right!!! They left the grind marks and holes visible!!! I am hoping that these molding can get reversed and that perhaps the right side was installed on the left??? But that is my question how can I tell? I dont want to tear apart the right side if they are interchangable as the glue has set. But this is seriously unacceptable. The bottom of the moldind on the left ( and Im talking about the piece that the rubber fits into) is angled. The top I cant see but hoping that might tell someone if its backwards?
The molding should be installed with the longest part of the angle on top (angle at bottom of windshield) on either the driver or passenger side. You can see the outline in my picture where it should go. This view is the drivers side. If they had to drill holes to reinstall moulding it was reinstalled wrong. When the weatherstrip moulding is reinstalled next to the windshield moulding a bead of caulk seals everything together.
