Ok so I've seen a lot of folks talk about the Xenon replacements for the lights in the dash, but not the LED ones and after about two hours in the garage today I can tell you that the upgrade to the LED bulbs is TOTALLY WORTH IT. Night and day difference. Totally worth the $50.

That looks great. How's the brightness when night driving?

That's a great question, I haven't driven it at night yet as it was raining all day today while I inatalled it and we are in the midst of winter here in Indianapolis. They are dimmable almost all the way to nothing though so I would imagine they will be just fine.

Yeah it's snowing again here in NY... I figured they would be fine with the auto dimmer but wanted to ask since they seem much brighter and more vivid. Looks like I have another project to add to the list! Did you buy a kit or just get the bulbs separately? My headunit has adjustable colors so I can get it to match.

I believe Batee sells the same LED's also, but am not sure. The Corvette Craft folks allow you to put any combination of colors in there. I went with the "Standard" hoping for more of a stock look, but they seem more blue to me. Not sure if that's just because they are Daylight balanced LEDs, or if it's because age yellowed the LCD lenses. Either way, I'm stoked about the whole thing.

It's the brightness during the day that is important. It doesn't take much light to see at night. Daylight washes out the lights and makes it hard to see the dash.

Yes true, my concern was it being too bright at night. Since they appear so much brighter.
Have been looking at Batee's website, he has LED lights that are very close to the color of Xenon bulbs. Have sent him an email to clarify what illuminates the dash best in daylight, see what he has to say i am not worried about the night illumination can easilly adjust it down.
Will do. They looked great in the garage, it'll be a few days if not longer before I can get the car out thanks to Indiana Weather though.
My Halogens were a little dim on the Tach side, as well as I felt like they were a bit dim at night. In photography terms the LED's are two stops (400%) brighter than the Halogen's they replaced in my 88 based on the info in the two images above. (1/15th@F2.2 and 1250ISO in the first image vs 1/15th@F2.2 at 320ISO). Possibly more since the after photo had a negative exposure value on top of the two stop change and the display look awesome.
Like I said, my Halogens were pretty dim at night, but if the night setting is 400% brighter like the day setting is, these will be amazing.
Will make an effort to investigate further in the next couple days.

ok, drive over by the drag strip near Brownsburg, let me see them in person..I live in Avon, lol.
BTW, there is a guy in Anderson that has one fine 53 vette, of course he should, he restores 53,4 and 5s. His brother in law has a 54 vette that he is building into a first class "Motorama" car, that was a GM exercise with the early cars.. he lives down Greenwood way.

If it was summertime I'd be all for it! Still a little too much Salt and junk on the road for my taste though I should be able to get the car out into the street tonight to show the LEDs at night.
I've seen a few C1's in the area. Not all at once mind you so maybe a few were the same one or two, but I live over on the East side and I've seen a nice Red 58 down at the Steer Inn on more than one occasion....
OK, so took the car down the street and back and one upped the photos previous in this post.
I have a terrible video to go with them!
Included in this video (said in epic announcer voice).
Man driving 1988 C4 4+3 approximately 1 block in his neighborhood at almost night rambling about his new LED dash upgrades! Shakeycam provided by Safety! (eyes on the road for that 1 block of course).
Hope this answers some questions. Having been out in the dark with it now I really dig it. If the Green and Orange colors were this bright I'm not sure I would, but the slightly more subdued blue and teal
Anybody can feel free to youtube it if they like, I would but don't want it on my youtube with a bunch of my Professional stuff that is totally unrelated.
