Those are good prices, but I think I can get mine rebuilt with custom valving for $100 each. Is the HD stiffer than the Sport model? A custom valved shock could be made stiffer than either of these two options, correct? I want to go to coilovers and would like to keep the selective ride controll. If I choose springs that were, say, 600#s front/400#s rear would this still let the FX3 work or would the spring be to stiff for the different shock settings to make a difference?
Speak to Bill Hendorf, he's the man there. Just had 4 done for $310. Its $55 per shock unless they have to replace the rods then its $100. Well worth the money can't believe the difference.
These were FX3 shocks, and they will custom valve if you want at the same time. Talk to Bill, he'll set you straight on what you need. I stayed with the regular valving and went to a Slamon ll chip.
Make sure you get the poly bushings for them, part numbers 98152gx and 98153gx.
Do you have a phone # where I can reach Bill? So you stayed with the stock valving, but changed the program in the controller? Did they reprogram the controller?
I checked out the prices, MidAmerica has them cheaper
Thanks
Also Autozone, same price as MidAmerica but no shipping cost (replaced by sales tax though). The one advantage with going new is they have a lifetime warranty. But then you can't get custom valving if that's what you're after.

Re: Bilstein rebuilds? (95wht6spd)
Ok,
55 bucks standard rebuild, unless rod needs to be replaced..100 bucks
100 bucks per shock for revalve to higher standards (morocca) 10 bucks per shock for notching for coilovers. Total 440 plus shipping there and back.
Computer controller, I have found is only needed in certain applications. Drag racing, and depending on what kind of track you run at.
Bill hendorf really isn't the person to talk to. Jack French is the guy that does the rebuild work, and some guy named Raul is the head of the dept. Although Bill was my initial point of contact. If you're getting coilovers, get the morocca revalve.
Yes, I talked to Jack today. He said it is only $55 to revalve to the Morocca setup, unless you need new rods. $8 for poly bushings. I forgot to ask about the notching for coilovers. I also asked about how you can tell if shocks are bad and he said they should leak fluid, period and they should not affect ride height (job of the springs). I ask him this because my shocks seem fine, but my front left has gotten lower (24.5") and scrapes a lot. I guess I need new springs, but didn't want to do the coilovers yet. Maybe I can get a cheap used Z07 spring and some used shocks for the rebuild time. Anyone know where I can get these?
Jeffvette,
Do you have the Morocca set up with the coilovers?

Agreed depends on what you want out of your car and what you plan to do with it. In my particular case I was repairing an FX3 system.
While Jack French is the tech who does the work, any for FX3 info or special needs with valving Bill is the guy who knows the system and can make the equipment recommendations based on what your needs are. Jack didn't even know they carried the bushings when I had mine done two months ago.
