Default Test pipe

I plan on removing my cat on my 89 auto. I am not going to remove the air pump incase I sell the car in the future and it needs cat put back on to pass inspection. My question is what do I do with the air line from the pump to the cat? Do I block it off and if so how? Do I just remove and save it, is so how is the best way? As far as I know, I should not get any codes or have to have new Chip burnt.

Thanks in advance

Mike

I built my own "test pipe" and included a 1/2" line from the pipe so I could use a compression fitting and connect the line from the pump to the pipe. This was on my 85 and the cat bolted in and out. I would remove the cat when taking the car to the drag races. By using the compression fitting it held the line from the pump firmly in place and I didn't have to temporarily wire it up out of the way.

You can remove everything and put a pulley in place of the pump and cap off the headers. Keep parts in a box and re-install if needed.

Just cut the pipe off at the catalytic convertor and leave it there. You don't need to cap it off. It's only air being pushed through from the pump. You can always reinstall another cat someday if need be, and the air tubing will already be there.

Sounds like the way to go. Thanks
