Default eBay HID fog lights

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Corvette-C4-1984-1996-Fog-Light-HID-Conversion-Kit-/251515291080?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACorvette&hash=item3a8f7ac5c8&vxp=mtr#ht_2167wt_1362
Anybody have these on their Vette? What are your thoughts?

I know there are other sellers out there but these seems to be the most economical one.

I was hoping that these are bright enough that I don't need to use the regular headlights at night. Not a big fan when those lights are up.

The seller is a CF Supporting vendor and seems to have a good reputation. Might want to contact them and get more details.

One big concern would be the existing clarity of your fog lamp housings. If they have become clouded over the years, you may find you would have to polish the lenses to improve the light output. The entire driving lamp and turn signal lens is glued to the housing and the housing is a PITA to remove.

Also, driving around at night without the headlamps on can draw the attention of LEO's. Most states have specific laws regarding when headlights must be used. LEO's could issue you a ticket for not having the headlights on even if a set of HID fogs may generate enough light to see.

Thanks for the quick reply. My fog lamp housings are in really good shape -- scratch and cloud free. I will try to contact them.

Looks like corvettemods is the seller. I have them, and mostly use the fogs only at night. I've came across cops many times, they don't say anything.

Sounds like it's bright enough to use by itself at night. I will place my order.

Is there plenty of room in the front bumper for the ballasts?

Yes, plenty of room. If you need help on how to install them, I'll take pics of them on my car to help you out

I have the corvette mods fog light kit and went out to attempt to install it last weekend in my 91 vert. How are you guys getting the new bulbs in? I can barely get the old bulbs out thru the small access hatch in the bottom of the bumper.. Can't get the new HID bulbs in. What a pain in the a**.

Guys, I'll take pics when I have the time. But yes, locking the HID bulbs is hard. To make it easier, take the rubber grommet off the halogen bulbs. Take the rubber grommet off the HID bulbs. Put the rubber grommet from halogen bulbs to the HID bulbs.

Got my HID fogs from CoretteMods. Instructions that came with the kit is not for my car -- might be for the early C4's. Called CorvetteMods customer service and it was zero help. Sent their Tech support an email (they will not talk to you) and 3 days later still no response. So I called customer service and she told me "I will try to forward your email to tech support." Whats the use of emailing support and it just goes to "customer service"?

To me really bad customer service. I am definitely NOT a repeat customer. They don't have even the right installation guide for the parts they sell. I was told they only have one (1) guide for all C4's.

In any event, cant wait to see your pics.

Sorry!! Forgot about this! I agree, they make me want to become a vendor for the C4 owners. I'll post them up. I posted this in a different thread. Just copy and pasted it. Let me know if you need additional help

For the HID fogs.

If I were you, I'd set the ballast first and connect the harness to it. Next, there are these two pins. You connect the pins to the factory fog wiring. Match the black with black(see wires from ballast and factory wiring). Get the bulb, connect it to the ballast, and gently slide it down the area where the turn signal bulb is. Slide the bulb down there as much as you can. Get under the car(no need to jack it up), open the fog light door. Look for bulb and where it goes in. Twist it in place, and you should be good. I know my instructions suck, but I hope it helps.
