Some shops will have flushing equipment that makes the job easy to do and takes away the mess and dealing with old coolant. But some shops and DIY'ers still do it the old fashion way; drain old coolant, fill with water, let engine run, drain, refilll then drain again and add a 50-50 mix of the correct coolant and water.

One thing to remember with our cars is that when you or the shop is done with the process is to take the time to carefully bleed any air out of the system otherwise you'll be wondering why your water temp is shooting up

LT1 will self bleed. Yes, it has bleeders, and yes, you can use them, but don't you don't need to.

Here is the fastest, easiest way to do this.

*Drain system, including removal of the knock sensors to drain the block, into a properly sized catch pan (5 gallons, IMO)
*Remove your heater hose from the throttle body, connect to a garden hose. Run garden hose. This will flush your heater core, heads, and block, it will all drain out the block drains.
*Remove radiator hoses, flush radiator into your drain pan.
^When flushing either the block or the radiator, I flush until drain water is clear (which happens quickly) then I remove the drain pan and continue flushing to remove debris (not coolant any longer) onto the ground.

*Re attach your heater hose, radiator hoses, fill system. bleed or run it. Top off and you're done.
