I know my tranny shifts faster that any 6 speed. Plus I don't have the problems of miss shifting. But you said fast. I would say a 6 speed will go though the traps with a faster speed. I think ET will be another story.
Hypotheticly speaking is a 6 speed faster 1/4 mile then a built up a/t with similiar skilled drivers ?
Chris
Well, I guess I am qualified to answer this as we switched my Dad's Vette from a 6 speed to an auto. Check out my sig. You will indeed see that "so far" the 6M is indeed "faster" and "quicker". But I expect that once we hit some nice cool weather in the fall, the auto will be quicker.
In general the auto launches much harder and more consistently than the 6M. But the advantage at the big end of the track goes to the 6 speed. The auto seems to run 1.5-2 MPH slower than the 6 speed at the end of the 1/4 mile.
And BTW, when the car was a 6 speed, we tried a lighter single mass flywheel. It did not make the ET quicker at all. All it did was make the car harder to launch. The car would either bog or spin off the line, there was no in between. Just my $0.02.
Someone should write a book on the dual mass flywheel versus the single mass flywheel set up. It still seems like the 6M 350 LT-1's that run in the 11's usually have the SMF set up.

So far, other than the noise, I'm really happy with this setup. :yesnod: This clutch is nice and smooth. Maybe a hair stiffer than stock. Seems much smoother than anything that's been in there till now. That might have something to do with the flywheel as well? I couldn't believe the weight difference. I picked up a fadanza expecting it to be light as a feather. I told Chris@SpeedDemon, I expected it to be light. Then he handed me the old one. It was all I could do to hold it in one hand!
