Got my optispark off and apart and it's making a plastic on plastic scraping noise when I spin the rotor. It makes the same noise with the rotor off, so I am guessing that the reluctor wheel is scraping against the housing or the sensor. Is the normal, or is the opti fixing to crap the bed?
Pull the metal cover off and turn the shaft to see if the wheel is "wobbling" and scraping the opti sensor. If it is it could be that the wheel isn't flat (it is so thin I don't think it can be easily flattened again) or the bearing is shot allowing the shaft to "wiggle". Also push in and pull out on the opti shaft to see if it will move in and out. If either or both are true, time for a new opti.
