Default Strange sound from somewhere

Hi

For 1995 with zf trans, does anyone already have this issue?

Move ahead just releasing clutch pedal, then stop, engaging reverse gear, move back just releasing clutch pedal (no throttle)

Doing this swing a couple of time a strange sound from car rear end frequently appearing, not always but very often appear

It sounds like to hit a wooden surface (as a table) with a knife

Seems to be from Rear end, or even from trans output shaft, wheel hub, exhaust, maybe spare tire carrier tray studs?

Could be the Teflon washers behind the hubs. I had similar noise. They were the culprit. I also changed the wheel bearings while I had it apart since I discovered a compromised seal on one of them.

Like you, the noise my car would make was most evident when changing direction. I would describe the noise mine made as a sharp click sound.

I believe some people have had success eliminating the noise by re-torquing the axle nut. But the washers are cheap and the work is easy.

Surely noise is from rear axle...

Mmmm don't know what exactly is....

Hope not something in diff like as spider gear or diff bearing,

Hi all

Finally fixed this clicking sound

Replaced rear wheel hubs, Teflon washers, added bearing grease, and a well flush inside...

No more click...

There was any grease inside, I think that this was the reason, however replaced bearing cause they were a little blown

Also i've noticed that there's a little hole on the bearing house-caliper mountin braket, sure to drain moisture, however i think that it could be a greasing point

I'm so happy to had fixed this noise

Glad you solved it.

Where/why did you add bearing grease? The bearings are sealed non serviceable units and everything else in there should be dry. (I did put a small amount of never sieze on the stub shaft splines).
