Ive got an automatic transmission in my 87'. Im getting it rebuilt and I want more off the line acceleration, better 1/4 times. Ive got about $3000 to spend on the deal and want some advise on what to put in there....anything that will help go ahead and note

What engine mods do you have; do you want traction on streets or DRs?

Check out my sig for the results of a 2,000rpm TC and shift kit along with a tranny rebuild.

I would suggest a shift kit and at least a mild TC upgrade, such as mine.

I am looking at about the same deal. I am planning on AL. perf headers, cam, intake, and new rear-end, prob 3.45. People have said that may boost me to 360 HP or so. It may cost me a bit more though, since I can't do it myself.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

I've recently updated my webpage with my personal C4 L98 performance history with a quite a few more details than I had posted in the past.

Have a look at the "My Corvette Performance History" section within my webpage.

Ask the shop to put in some of their heavier duty parts if they can, add a shift kit, add a higher stall TC (2400 Vigilante would do it, and would respond well to future mods)

The TC stall rpm would be the only thing that really affects times.

As far as engine mods there is none, there are other mods like complete exhaust done/no pre-cats, k&n, open lid, Msd ignition and wires, Larger MAF...pretty much it. Im starting off with the tranny since I have the money and its been giving me problems. Im looking more for performance, improved acceleration on street radials. 65Z01 what type of improvement did you see on your vette with the 2kRPM TC and shift kit? What about the rear diff. did you cahnge the ratio on it?

As my signature update shows I'm still running stock 2.59s and GY Eagles.

The tranny mods dropped my ET by 0.3 sec and today I ran my best 60' time, which is about 0.l5 sec quicker than with the stock tranny and TC.

I'm going to keep the stock gears and street tires; I think I can get into the 12s on the motor and current tranny work.
