First day with the Vette. So found out last night the hard way that my radiator fan doesn't run when the A/C is off. I was sitting in traffic and saw my temp gauge just below 260. So I turned on my A/C as I know most cars with A/C will activate the electric fan. After a few minutes it was back down to 195. So is this the norm? Is there no temp sensor to activate the fan at 200+ degrees when the A/C is off? If there is, where's it at on the motor so I can swap it out?

Thanks!
What year my 94 has two relays on the left side of the rad I think they turn on at 228 and 238 is your rad full and you sure the first fan is not working and your rad is not plugged up inbetween the coolers
Mines a 94. I only see 1 fan. It seems like it might have a high and low speed. I'll run it with the ac off and see if it kicks on around 238. I did see the 2 large grey relays on the side today.

No clogs between the coolers. It stays below 220 with the ac on. Only have the issue with the ac off.

Fan kicked on at 228 today without the a/c on. Guess everything is ok. Kinda scary seeing the needle so close to 260 though. I turned the dash display on to monitor the temp.

Yep, do not go by what that analog gauge leads you to believe.
It does not have a linear scale either, so it is next to impossible to tell what the temp being displayed is.
Take a close look at the upper end of the scale, and you'll notice a "shaded" area just before 260.
As long as your gauge needle isn't into that shaded area you are not overheating.

Yes, you should generally ignore the needle on the analog temperature gauge. It is misleading and will freak you out.
Press the gauges button to display the coolant temperature on your LCD dash display. This is within a couple degrees of actual engine temperature.
Do a search and you will find that the LT1 was designed to run at higher temperatures than the average gas engine. My opinion: it's ok anywhere under 230F. But usually I turn on the AC when the digital gauge hits 220F. I just did a cooling flush too, so everything's working great. It's not as hard as it seems, even the knock sensors weren't that tough to get out.
What can I do to keep temp down while not running a/c on my 07 Vette?
best to ask in the right forum c4 only went to 96. but would clean and flush check the thermosate. clean the fins on the radiator or run it on defrost.

Didn't realize I was in C-4 page, have 07 C-6. Thanks.
