Default Holiday weekend amusement

Hi All,

Decided on a new project for the long weekend.

As amusing as the top end vacuum leak I have is... I've decided to do the Super Ram resealing dance. Pull it all off and try again. I've read the great write-ups on how to do it correctly and feel fairly confident that I can get it back together as intended.

While I have the intake off I was planning on pulling the heads off and inspecting the pistons, end gap and bores. Obviously, with a car of this age with no documentation, I am just making some assumptions of what I will find. It doesn't smoke on cold start and I'm not hearing any sounds of major mechanical distress. If all is as expected, I will find an unbored, 350 with 76cc cast-iron heads with flat-top pistons.

My question is...
I have a set of 113 heads that were pulled off of a new zz4 crate motor for a set of Brodix replacements. Is it worth putting these on??? I've seen all kinds of comments from "No improvement" to "Nice bump because of compression jump and weight loss". The zz4 heads only have a few hundred miles on them.

If I did go this route, can I use the rockers from the cast-iron heads? And what thickness head gaskets should I use?

I have a rebuilt 406 short block on the stand that I'm planning to introduce to the car sometime late this year but, I would like to get a little seat time this summer before I tackle that huge job.

Here's a pic of the 406. I picked it up for $400 so I want to review it carefully before I put any trust in it.

Thanks for the read
