I know fore sure that my current set-up will not benefit with a D36, althought the D36 went further then what I expected from it.
What year is your D36 and what ratio was it OE? Do you know what the assembly # is off of the bottom of the housing? I'm interested in a 605XXX or the GM assembly number. That would help me help you.

I'm still up in the air on the rear end. It will be next winters project. Just finished installing the Flowmaster front y pipe with converter and changing the trans filter and adding a drain plug to it wile the x brace was off. I'll run the trans for a few and drain it again. My concern now is lowering it. It's up in the air and I'm starting it tomorrow. I have the wedges but I've hear others say just cut all but 1/4 inch off the rubber and others say take it all off. I'm looking for the most drop without problems. Any thoughts.

You shouldn't need the side differential gears. It would be a catastrophic failure that would require those I believe.
Tom's Differentials has a spider gear kit's for dana 36. http://www.tomsdifferentials.com/tomp.htm

The entire package isn't generally needed, washers and the pinions will repair most.
