My 94 is sputtering randomly. The service lights are on for the asr and the abs. Sometimes it performs with no issues and other times it sputters and hesitates. Any ideas? Could the asr cause this?
I have and it looks good. Going to check it again this evening. I am thinking my sputtering problem is with the MAF sensor and the service lights are a different problem but i am not sure.
I am still voting on th cause being low on brake fluid. My car would throw the ABS light and the Service ASR light under heavy acceleration and it was because it was slightly low on brake fluid.

Brake fluid is below the max but above the min. Could definately be what you are saying. Still no spitting or sputtering since MAF has been unplugged but a definate loss of power from somewhere and check engine light. My best guess is this is due to the MAF being unplugged. Thoughts?
Put a jumper wire in terminal A and G in your ALDL connector, and pull the ASR/ABS code. Then we can diagnose rather than WAG.
The Check Engine light is on b/c your MAF is disconnected.
The ASR/ABS light is NOT on b/c of a missfire, or any engine drivability issue.
When does the ASR/ABS light come on and stay on?
*As soon as you start the car?
*As soon as you move the car?
*When you hit the brakes or accelerate hard?

It varies. They're staying on 75% of the time. Sometimes they come on the minute the car moves. Other times they do not come on until i accelerate. Sometimes they stay off for a while and come on during normal operation. Another thread on this forum pointed me towards a wire in the driver side rear wheel well. Im going to pull the wheel and inspect this over the weekend. You answered my original question about the asr effecting the engine performance. Much thanx. Im now certain that I have 2 seperate problems with 2 different solutions.

It's not very likely that it is your brake fluid level, based on your post above. You could keep chasing your tail, pulling wheels, etc.....OR you could expedite things greatly by

The code will tell you right where to go look.
Thats my next move. Just have to find the time. Ill post an update when i find the problem. My main concern was the engine performance. I think I have tracked that down. Thank you all.
