Basically the underside of the headliner is glued to the top. What I did was take a flathead screw driver and carefully hedged it in between the styrofoam headliner and pryed it away from the top. The actual cloth of the headliner inself can be easily peeled from the styrofoam backing. Before installing the new fabric, the old glue must be rubbed off the backing. New specific headliner material can be purshaced at any fabric store. I actually found beige headliner material that matched my interior and used 3M spray adhesive and applied it to the headliner fabric and then to the syrofoam. Cost all together was around $20. Definitely beats spending $150 for a new headliner.

Here is what I did, Removed old one sprayed it with 3 m glue on the top and get this, speaker box carpet Perfect match.. :yesnod: Then when it got really hot one day it fell off. Then I got some Barge cement and no more problems.

Used 3M on mine and it hasn't fallen down in two years of hot Florida weather. Also put a variable speed vacuum to get all the little fuzzies out.
Make sure and get the padded headliner material. Makes it a better looking job.

Hmmm...the velcro thing has got me thinking. I fit fine in the car except for track days. Perhaps I could remove the headliner and fit velcro to it so that it is removable for track days when I wear a helmet. Hmmmm.
