The shift indicator on my auto 89 is stuck. Just wandering if anyone has had or knows how to fix this problem. The pointer is stopped between 2nd and 1st gears and will not move. Any advice or help Please!!!!
I have the same problem. While removing the center console, I broke the indicator. The dealer wanted about $25 for the item. Gees, it's just a little plastic piece! Figured I could do without.
You'll need to loosen the dash bezel and move it to the left. Then loosen the center bezel and remove the screws from the console bezel, including the three inside the console.
You can then lift the console plate enough to see if the pointer is engaged into the shifter shaft lever. If not engage it, lower the console plate and button it up.
If the pointer is broken you may be able to get a new or used one from Contemporary Corvette (link on my site). They sell new Vette parts and run a large Vette bone yard.
