Default Got my Ed Wright Fastchip!

:D And I was wondering what to expect from it. Heard that it was a sure thing to get, better than most others. I'm wondering how much of a difference it's going to make. I have to install it tomorrow while the wife's at work, then surprise her tomorrow night when we go to the local car cruise. I hope she notices the difference! I'll let you know, and please let me know what you've gotten from the chip. It's a stage 2 with 160 degree stat. Thanks! :seeya

I heard you should wait till other major mods before it really helps???

Oh and 95AquaC4.... Why is your Vanity Plate N20Vette??? Should it be NO2
In Chem if my memory serves me right.... N is for Nitrogen, O is for Oxygen and there are 2 oxygen molecules so you add the "IDE" for the end making the Oxide so wouldnt it be NO2 = NitrousOxide...... but now it has me thinking and im not very confident with this post, lol oh well.... I could be wrong  Whatever

Based on a conversation I had with them not too long ago, it does three things:

- Advances spark (not sure how many degrees)
- Turns off torque management (at least for an A4)
- Turns fans on at 180 degrees

The chip helps a bit, but I don't have any measurable performance figures. Also, you'll have to pull this chip and have them do a custom one for you (to the tune of $350.00) if you want to add nitrous or a blower in the future. Overall, I've been happy with it.

If you don't have any engine mods, like heads / cam and such don't expect very much. Not that I'm knocking the product by any means, it's just that GM tuning is actually very good from the factory. You will certainly notice a decrease in temps and such if you have a 160 thermostat because your fans will come on sooner. Otherwise I don't think your wife will notice a difference.

N2O is nitrous oxide, NO2 is nitrate.

The correct formula is N2O, but most people here refer to it as NO2. No clue why. Nitrous oxide is made up of 2 parts nitrogen, and one part oxygen. (36% oxygen by weight)

I just put in a fastchip (see thread here) on my 92 LT1. I was at the dyno shop at the time, and it gave me a net of minus 1 HP! However, it was very hot and humid in the dyno shop, and engine temps, even with the 160* stat, were as high as 220. A few days later, I went to the track on a cool 70* evening, and the engine was at 174 on the launch. I got a new personal best time (13.84)! So, the moral of this story is that a Fastchip CAN make a difference, but only under some circumstances.

:D :D :D :D :D Oh how beautiful life is! Needless to say, I installed it this morning, and............. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! She's more of a nut than I thought she would be, I am VERY pleased. Aqua, now I'll keep up a bit better, just keep the bottle OFF! Scorp, mods are just what you see in my sig, I got a Stage 2 chip, not a custom deal. TREMENDOUS DIFFERENCE! And everybody else, it worked for me! I understand results will differ, I'm just glad the differed so much in my favor! More bottom end, throttle response, and high end is nuts! Not to mention running almost 40 degrees cooler. (from 230+ to 190+) Just wanted all to know that I am happy that I did it, it's a very measurable difference. I recommend to all! Now if I get my tires soon, I'll throw my new rims on too! :seeya

the engine 40deg cooler should be worth a solid 5hp or so by it's self, i swear it's more just by seat of the pants but a fairly stock L98 at 170 deg usually runs 2/10ths or so faster than at 210-220deg..at least mine did when it was.

 All I know is that it is a very big difference, no kidding. I'm glad to hear about others liking it as well, and those without luck, SORRY. :( I'm glad I dropped that little bit of money to get such a big increase! Look for me on the road's shoulder near you, in front of a cop of course! :seeya
