Thanks for the forum.... some really great info here
So I have an 87 C4 that had a random no start, Did the vats key elimination seemed to repair the problem, got it out of storage last weekend(Ohio winters suck) started right up, let it idle in the drive...20 min later no start.... sat for 2 days.... still no start.....2 days later I decided to take a look at it... starts right up.... scanned it... no issues, went to start it... no start. Fuel psi gauge, noid light, spark indicator. Crank no start... no fuel psi..... jump the fuel pump... nothing. Replaced the pump... started stalled..no fuel psi... Tore it back out... Here is what I discovered, there is a three prong bulkhead plug in the fuel pump cover, Tan White= per, Black=grnd, Purple=gauge signal. Black wire was partially melted making intermittent contact causing the intermittent no start, hard solder the connector....vette runs much better than before.
Check the harness plugged into the FP relay. It is below the brake booster, I think. Insulation was melted back big time on mine. Its been a few years since I spliced in a repair . I used a harness from a newer car. They got better wiring.

So what is your question then? The "Crank no start" is proof that it was never a VATS issue and likely wasn't in the first place either.
