Default Corsa question

All I see available for our cars is a catback no axelback? I will probably be putting on Melrose headers and mid pipes so no need for a catback.

Guess I'm SOL and need to look for something else?

I was in the same place last year. Bought the cat-back package and discarded the one piece that connects to the cat.

I'm in the process of installing a corsa cat-back system in my 85 corvette. here's the issue - corsa only makes the L98 cat-back system for the 86-91 corvettes. the problem arises connecting the system to the catalytic converter on the 84-85 corvette. the cat flanges are totally different from the 86-91 corvette. my solution is to install a complete 86-91 exhaust system in my 85. since the 86-91 has pre-cats, it was necessary to install a new 86-91, catless, front y-pipe. flowmaster has a front y-pipe -- 2.5" stainless, mandrel bent -- nice assembly. the exit pipe is 3", and i'll be connecting that to an 86-91, ultra high flow, stainless, magnaflow main cat. from there, the corsa system should attach without issues. I did have to get the 86-91 rear hanger, but the holes in the "C" support beam were already there, so it's a simple bolt in part. the only issue I'm working through is the secondary heat shield for the main cat. the factory 86-91 heat shield is designed to attach to the stock, factory, main cat, so some minor rework at the rear attach point may be in order. I do not see any show stopper issues at this point.

correct, but it's 86-91 (L98 cars) and 92-96 (LT1/LT4 cars) + ZR1's. I'm guessing one could adapt the LT1 system to the early C4 cars, but that seems like it would be a lot of work. my post was, in general, referring to L98 cars.

Lot of money to be throwing something away. But looks like that's the only way to get axelback.

I converted their full LT1 exhaust system to fit on an '85. All it took was cutting and welding new pipes where it connects to my headers.

It's a cat less true dual 2 1/2" exhaust.

- I would like to have done that to my 85. I had the stock exhaust off my 96, and it was slated to be installed on my 85, but with moving to florida, my son having my 85 in Sarasota, and the whole logistics issue, it was never meant to be. anyway, the flowmaster/magnaflow/corsa thing will have to do - only thing, i'll have a small fortune tied up in this thing !

Using the Melrose system with stock LT1 mufflers, very happy and no drone, no need to buy a cat back system.

I'm not going to buy a cat back looking for a axel back. PO of my car has a muffler delete so I need something.

Are you looking for an axle back system because your muffler eliminators are too loud or drone? If so, there' a much less expensive fix. You can have your local muffler shop fabricate an "H-Pipe" into your system for $50 - $60 which will reduce the noise and move any drone up the RPM scale by at least 1000 RPM. Or, you can spend anywhere from $40 - $100 for an "X-Pipe" on eBay and spend $50 - $100 to have it welded into your system. It will not only reduce the noise and knock out most of the drone... it will increase your torque, as well.

I've gone both routes with muffler eliminators on my '96 and... they both work as advertised.

They don't drone or are they to loud. I really don't think they have the best sound. They could possibly to loud when I get the long tube setup I don't know. I was looking for the Corsa because from what I have read they are the only ones that don't have drone.

I was considering MagnaFlow. Had them on my Mustang and they sounded awesome. But some threads I have read about hanger problems have kind of scared me of them.
