Default Anyone supercharged their engine?

I'm playing around with the ideal of supercharging my LT4 sometime in the future. I'd like to hear from someone that has done this as to your experience. Mainly, any problems afterward and how does it drive?

I bought my 1991 with the supercharger already installed. It drives great, just like a normal 1991 until I step on it. Then it is like my slightly modified 2002 Z06. It spins the tires easily and goes very well, and gets good gas mileage if I am light on the throttle, but that is no fun.

What supercharger do you have? My goal is to add another 100+ horsepower to my car. I figure a SC would be a quick way to do that.

......... There is a specific Forced Induction/nitrous forum here in the C4 section ... that alone should tell you something about whether ANYONE has supercharged a C4 ...... sorry , but you're not the first to come up with the idea ......... .........

Hi

Talk to blowerworks,

http://www.blowerworks.net/

They will be able to help with blower fitment for the LT4.

Have a look at the forced induction/nitrous section, there are plenty who have blown late c4's. There are some modifications needed to fit them to the later c4's.

Here is my 85 with a Vortech blower and 8 psi boost.

My 1991 was originally rated at 250 HP at the flywheel. It now puts 320 HP and 390 ft.- pds of torque to the rear wheels, which comes out to about 375 HP at the flywheel. This is done with a Procharger P600B running at about 6 pounds of boost, as the rest of the engine is stock. If I wanted to beef up the lower end of the engine and the rest of the drivechain, etc., the boost could be increased for more power, but it is fine the way it is. Below 4500 RPM it makes more power and torque than my slightly modified 2002 Z06.

Before engine cleanup.

Overlooked that. I shall now troll over there.

Thanks for the information ya'll. I imagine that it's a whole different car with a supercharger.

I have an 11:1 compression LT1 with a stock bottom end that makes 7-8 lbs boost with a Vortech and water/meth injection. Runs like a scalded dog.
