After warm up, I shift the vette into "R" to back out of the garage. When I do this I can hear a popping(clank) noise which sounds like to be comming from a u-joint. I back out and turn and stop. I then shift the car into "D" to pull out of the drive way, and I get the same popping(clank) noise again.
I am in fear of a u-joint(s) going bad. Maybe this is a simple question, as I am not car mehcanic. What is the best way to check for a bad u-joint(s)?
Is it anything else in the rear that it coulb be? This seems to be the general location that the noise is coming from, rear of the car.
One more thing, it usually only does it while leaving the garage, "R", and puttingthe car into "D" to leave my drive? Does this sound like a u-joint?
If more info is needed please let me know...Thanks
I just had my control arms, both sides, upper and lower+bushings replaced at my local dealer. You would think that after doing all tha the mechanic would had checked other stuff and let me know if there were other bad parts.
