Default IAT reelocation

Marc Haibeck in suggesting his IAT relocation is mounting it to the front bumper

How sensitive is this sensor to the elements? Up here in the PNW rain does happen.

That would not be my 1st choice for location. Why not put it in the air cleaner box like most people do? FWIW, on a MAF car the relocation is rumored not to make any difference. If anything it would cause the ECM to richen the mixture.

There is not enough influence on how the engine runs from the IAT for me to locate it there or anywhere that the installation difficulty is increased. :nonod:

I prefer drilling into something not so pricy to replace and easier to reach; such as the air filter lid.

The other issue is the mechanical integrity of the mount and sensor and effect of the elements.
