You have to have both columns apart and side-by-side and it requires a very close inspection to confirm if it will/won't as a two part component or not. There are I believe three styles of latching combinations for the tilt. You can't mix and match those and retain the full range of tilt, some I don't even believe will swap. I've mixed some late-model medium duty truck and van columns for various Saginaw columns but I've had some that wouldn't also.
If the column is "FREE" maybe look - if you've a minor tilt "wobble" consider the Haibeck over-sized pin. Easier and works for most who try I believe.

There is always some "wobble" even on a good column.
To answer your question, WVRZ1 said it ,best put both columns side by side,because this worked for me I had a FREE tilt column out of a 82 s/10 blazer , from some old V8 s/10 projects, that's how I fixed mine.some parts are the same
