Engine Removal Time
Given that I have all the proper tools and working by myself, how long should it take me to completely remove my engine? I will not be removing the hood, and it will be engine only, tranny stays in. Thanks. :cheers:

I did my first engine removal and replacement in 8 hours.
I pulled the motor and tranny out together and had a waiting engine and tranny to put back in.
I did this all by myself with no help from anyone.

the hood takes 30min to remove, why take chances? i'm about to pull my old core engine too & really don't see how i could very easily with that hood there.

i really dont see how removing the hood makes pulling thejob easer, assuming you have a standard portable engine hoist.
Mine came right out/in with the hood on. :yesnod:

How do you put the engine back with the trans. still in the car? It took MarkLT1 about an hour each (half an hour to fit the socket into the bolt head) to take bolts out of the bell housing. We're working with the car raise on jack stand on my drive way. How can you see the top bell housing bolts and hand tight it before using the long extension with socket to tight them? Did you torque all the bell housing bolts after the engine is back in the car?

Have you ever broke any of the switch/sensors connector? Where can I buy the replacement. Mine are too brittle that I am afraid will break in to pieces when try to plug back:(
