Hi
The hinges are usually left on the car, there are several shims.
My 85 has 3 shims on the drivers side rail, 12mm of shims in total.
The passenger side rail has 10mm of shims in total.
There are more shims where the hinge connects to the X frame, drivers side 13mm (3 shims) Passenger side 11mm (2 shims)
Do not know why they are different,the car has not been in any accidents.
It is a rough measurement, hopefully it will help you be in the ball park with shim sizes.
