My accelerator pedal can move approximately 1 to 1.5 inches from side to side and probably about half and inch back and forth from just being too loose. This movement has no affect on the acceleration of the car it just makes it kind of a guessing game. It no longer even resembles a firm pedal. What is loose or worn out? A bushing or a bolt? There is nothing to tighten as far as the interior will let me see...
Re: Problems w/ VERY sloppy accelerator pedal... (Vette9d1)
The accelerator pedal is getting ready to break I'd say.......been there and done that. They are a B#*$ to replace......not really that hard just a PITA ..........my old hands had a tough time with getting the cable loose from the pedal. they don't cost much though and they seem to be readily available (except inMY town). I wound up making my replacement out of some flat steel and a couple of 1/4 inch rod ends left over from my racing days :seeya
Re: Problems w/ VERY sloppy accelerator pedal... (Vette9d1)
Basically there is a cheap plastic bracket that holds it still, it's probably broken. Same thing happened to mine. I reinforced it with a few metal brackets. I am currently in the design phase of a billet, or aluminum replacement.
