Im pretty sure i know what the problem is but i just want to check with the experts.
I just finished the buildup on my engine and while i was breaking in the cam, the headers started to glow red hot. I wasnt to worried at the moment. I just realized, i set the timing to 6 or 7, while the engine was at 2000rpm, just to get the cam broken in, with the advance disconnected. Well the engine should have 20+ degrees advance at 2000rpm, not 6 or 7. Im guessing once i have the timing set properly the glowing will go away.
With the advance disconnected it won't advance at all because unlike the old point type distributors and the original hei dists........there is no mechanical advance to help out. Run it with the advance plugged in and the glowing should go away........it's because of late timing and the fuel is burning in the pipes :seeya
