Default Targa Top Clear coat

A friend just bought a 95 that has the clear coat peeling. Where it has peeled it looks good but where the coating still is it looks real bad. Anyone know how to strip that coating off?

I have seen some people post that you can remove the rest of the clear with like micro fine sandpaper and then buff it and polish it.......I need to also ......... :seeya

OK found it was on my computer at work, not that I'm on the forum during working hours, just in case my boss checks in he has a Vette also.
This will work on a top that has the clear coat peeling or light scratches.
Supplies needed:
Wet/dry sandpaper, grits #600,800,1000,1200 ,you can get small packs at Pep Boys or a similiar store. Order a Micro mesh kit #5323A from http://www.sports.com or any aircraft supply house. Airplane canopy's are acrylic also. The kit costs around $25.,and has finer grits up to 3000, and polishing compound.
Fill a bucket with water and add a couplke of capfuls of Dawn liquid detergent, this will lubricate your paper.
Vey important keep your top wet at all times ,I keep the hose on a small trickle. Start with the 600 grit, sand in a back and forth motion ,nor circular. aftyer finishing with the 600 go to the next grit, but sand in the opposite direction. Keep sanding with the lighter grits alternating the sanding direction with each grit till the clear coat is gone. Then buff with the compound that came in the Micro Mesh kit ,beg or borrow a buffer if you don't have one. After buffing you can either wax or have it clearcoated. Good luck Jim.
