I'm like most people I looked but need your help. I have a 1996 LT1 with 46000 miles, have done a lot of work to car bringing her back to life Both personal and dealership. When I put her in the shop the other day I heard this ticking noise. Not only did I hear it but the service manager heard it. So his mechanic checked it out and looked but did not find anything. They fixed some oil leaks on the front of motor. Tonight I had a chance to look over the work they did and I can say they did a wonderful job. So I started looking for what I really thought was an exhaust leak. I found it. On cylinder number 7 it is leaking over top of spark plug because the spark plug is black and rubber boot over plug looks a little overheaded. My question tonight is this a job that I can handle or should I go back to the shop and let them do it. I'm a back yard mechanic whom did all my work on my C6 exhaust so I'm a jack leg of all trades. I'm working on this car a little at a time but did not know how much of difficulty it would be removing those bolts and installing a new gasket without breaking a bolt on a 19yr old car. Or can someone tell me how much trouble I'll run into.

Number 7 is on the drivers side. Way easier to deal with than the passenger side. I would say do it but if you don't feel comfortable don't.
It was NOT the exhaust manifold. Yes it was number 7 plug, It appears the last person who installed the plugs did NOT tighten it the last 360 degree turn. I got the wrench in there and problem solved. The trick was getting the nickle size mirror and put it down there and looked on the under side of exhaust when I saw wiggle in plug. Anyway thanks
