I just placed the order, however I need to mail out the Cashier's check today. T Byrne Motorsports (vendor on this forum) has the P-1SC kit of an LT-1 for $3899.99. That was the lowest price I've seen so I'm jumping on it. However, they are ordering it right from ATI and they told me the ordering time is 2 weeks! YEAH RIGHT! I said. I've heard so many people saying the lead time is more like 6 to 8 weeks if that. I'm on hold right now with ATI to find out what they say. I'd like to be able to install and run it before late fall or winter!!!
I'll be watching this section anxiously as you install that beast. Congrats!
Keep us posted on the progress. Are you installing yourself? If so, take pics along the way.
Yeah I'm actually going to attempt it myself. I'm going to get a digital camera and document every little step and put it in the tech tips section if I can. I've gotten a lot of help from everybody and I'd like to return the favor. A lot of people complain about the ATI Procharger installation instructions so I'm hoping to maybe help people in the future......that's if I get through it without ripping my own hair out first.
I'm guessing I won't get the kit for at least 6 weeks. At that time it will be too late to drive it, so I'm not going to be in a hurry. If it takes me longer than 20 hours because of all the documentation it won't really matter.
But, I can pretty much tell you it will take you more than 20 hours. If you work on it every afternoon bout 5 hours... it will probably still have to finish up on Saturday.
Take your time... its worth the wait.... and the extra detail. My Procharger gave my vette new life, and it will really wake yours up too. Keep us informed on your progress!
Re: Good Luck with the install.... (85Procharged383)
DUDE Are you excited or what! i remember when i got mine i almost blew a ....well you know! Congrats but that price seems a little steep to me? but either way you will be happy did you get the P1SC???? the Self Contained???? As for the install that is what we are here for we have been there and done that and we will help you out anyway we can! It will take a bit to get it dialed in but when you do....Watch out and you will love the sound of your charger! As for shipping it will take a bit but it is all hand crafted and just be patient you will have it on soon! gosh when you open that huge box and see that blower you will get a huge smile! and count your parts make sure everything is there and read the book before even starting the install so you know what you are up against! Man i want another vette so i can put a blower on that to! :(
After you install the Procharger. I repeat don't beat on it, drive easy until you get it tune for proper fuel curve. Drive easy so you don't see any boost. Centrifugal blower only see boost at wide open throttle. A guy here installed a Procharger on his 92LT1 vette. His car was not tune and he beat on it. Guess what? he blew up his motor, lost a piston. All it take is one detnation and your motor will be gone. So, tune it first before you learn the hard way. Good luck
Wow...it must be nice to be in line for a blow job. I want one too. But I just ordered one for the Mustang street racer. So my son's vette will have to wait another month or so until I can allocate the funds. Have fun!
