Default 383 Build.. What else do I need?

Its finally time to finish my *cough* 3 year project (damn wallet)...

Due to my folks buying another Vette (2000 vert), I am forced to get my car running using the current parts for now, but I figure once I start driving it around again the bug will bite harder then ever and I will want to finish the motor the way it should be done...

So what else do I need to upgrade? (Look for current motor in my signature) I am looking at a full SuperRam intake, and either getting a set of 88-91 heads and getting them ported along with the SR (matched). Or getting a set of AFR's or something and getting them matched with the SR (or SR matched to them, whatever the case would be).

I have a set of LPE 1-5/8 (2.5" collector) headers that I want to put on, not sure if they will go on right away or not, but I would run a dual 2.5" mandrel system out the back, with dropouts/flanges to bolt cats into place as well as mufflers (so option of quiet/legal and an option of open/loud).

I am going to be getting either the E6GM haltech computer, or E6K (I think thats the model) stand alone with harness. Since I am getting rid of smog and A/C stuff I wont need any extra wires that are in the stock harness that an aftermarket wouldnt need, havent decided which route to go yet, have to talk to some people when the time comes... but computer is covered....

58mm Throttle body, to go with the SR above.
What about injectors? I have been told both sides.... One, I need bigger injectors... and the other that since I am running a fully programable computer that I dont need them... Also, Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator? Same deal, heard both sides...

I am running a K&N, I plan on doing a housing setup at some point, low priority right now (It seems like its not a big deal mod either, from the fast vettes out there not many have this.?.?)

When I do the heads I will get the springs and valves upgraded as well...

Is there anything missing I should consider or that is stupid not to do?

Thanks all!
Matt

Sounds good matt..FINALLY..in all the time I've known you..the beast comes alive! Just remember, I get first ride. :D
Personally, on heads, I'd go with a set of TFS Twisted Wedge 23º's. 195cc intake runner, flows well into the 240's, STOCK! Only like $1k with the stuff to run a big enough cam for the SuperRam. Maybe I need to start on my build of MY 388! again,

You're going to want some 1 3/4" headers.

Get an AFPR and some 26 or 30# injectors. Do you absolutely need them, no, but you will be running the 22s basically at max duty cycle, so bigger ones would be less stressful.

You don't even mention what you're going to do for a block, crank, rods, pistons, cam, etc....... what about those? What is your goal?

If you are in fact going to a Superram setup you may want to rethink that camshaft as it is tuned more for the LTR setup. Have you thought about roller rockers, pushrods, titanium valve retainers, 10* locks, etc... ?

All the fancy stuff will be done with the heads, 1.6 rollers, nifty ti parts, springs, etc..

Cam... I have been told its decent to change in car. So for now I am going to leave the 211 in. I am not sure if I am going to go for a 219 or get a custom ground cam made for it. I have to do some research on custom grinds, see how to determine the profile, etc...

Headers... I know i need bigger, but cant find anyone to trade me.. or a good deal on a set of bigger ones... One thing I was told might be doable, is to run a 3" exhuast with these headers, so that I dont have to get a whole new system done... Another thing I need to research a bit :)

One thing I just remembered, elecrtic water pump is going on for sure.

Matt
BTW, what ever happened to those valve covers? Get them polished up?
And whats the latest on your car? Its been ALONG time since I frequented the forum....
