radio static
anyone have any problems with radio static? My Bose radio on my 92 has static all the time. The antenna is working fine and going all the way up. Someone told me to check if makes a difference when I accelerate, it doesn't. Any suggestions? :(

Unplug the antenna from the rear of the radio and check for continuity with an ohmeter from the center pin to the antenna mast. Then check from the outside of the connector to ground. Both should show low resistance. If the antenna is ok, then the problem is inside the radio.

I have the same problem with static, but only on AM. If I do something that uses power like open a wndow or adjust a seat, the static goes away, only to return a short time later.
I haven't had a chance to investigate yet but i'm thinking a ground problem? :confused:
Not really a big deal but a pain when trying to listen to the ball game.

92 blue - what is the nature of the static - constant noise, crackling, or ? I just had to get my whole system reworked. Sent the receiver to be repaired as well as 2 of the amps (Bose Gold). The systems contain electrolytic capacitors that die from old age and power cycling.
