Default Read before you buy from ZIP!!!!

I just need to blow off some steam, and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Read this post if you have any plans on buying a rear diff from them. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=365638 :mad

I can understand you being upset about the delay, but it happens all the time. Ive seen post on here about the lingenfelter cams on back order, corsa exhaust on back order etc,. IMO you have 4 choices, 1. dont switch it at all, 2. go to another rebuilder, but expect to pay more like $1295.00 for the same diff. 3. buy the parts and have some shop install them for you, 4. Or, and this is what I would do, Contact Zip, ask for Justin, and see how long it would take to rebuild your unit if you ship it to him. When they did mine, and this was a little over a year ago, they told me 2 weeks, and it was ready in 11 days. I really believe that Zip is a first rate co. and in a lot of cases they are passing on info. that their suppliers are giving them. Believe me, this happens all the time and not just in the automotive business. I am a HVAC contractor, and I see builders give completion dates on houses, only to find it rarely happens on time. IE. inspectors hold up job, rain slows job, another subcontractor didnt do his part on time, which then holds up the next trade, etc. But the General contractor is the one who gets yelled at, by the customer for not having it ready on time. Whatever you decide to do I wish you luck with it, and when you do get those gears in, its going to make you forget all the problems you had getting them!!

I understand that you are upset and having trouble but I have not had any problems with them. Any company or person will have a bad day from time to time.

Whoa, wait just a minute here. I am Justin and am the one that builds the rears for ZIP. You have not been lied too, we are extremely honest with our customers. The reason your rear took so long was not a fault of ours, we cannot help that our customers choose to send us bad cores. We are very picky on what we build so that you get the best product out there. I would assume you would be pleased by this instead of just building anything that someone sits in front of us. The reason it took as long as it did which was very unusual was because we were waiting on another Vendor who we ended up having to buy some cores from so we could build what was on order. It also would have been much faster if you had sent your core in to be rebuilt, then we would not have been waiting on others.

Thanks for the post, Justin! I for one would not want to get a bum core. I would be pissed if I got a rear from you that was basically junk. You got to protect your reputation. And I for one can understand and appreciate that.

I ordered my rear end from Zip and it arrived in no time flat! A lot depends on the whole core issue (I for one kept mine - sorry), so don't flame Justin - he's a good guy. :)

The delay is not what really had me upset. I understand that there were circumstance that you couldn't control. That kind of thing happens in life and you just have to accept it. And yes it would have been faster to send mine and have it rebuilt, I just wish I had thought of that in June. I would surely be needing new tired by now. The problem I had was being told it was ready to be shipped or scheduled to be shipped when it wasn't even built yet. The first person to tell me that you had to order new rears and that was the delay, was you. And I might say that was my 3rd call. Now that I've had a few days to calm down and the rear should be here today, I see I could have handled things differently. I hope this situation never arises again and that I haven't cost you any business. Maybe it was a misunderstanding between me and the person I spoke to that said they were ready to be shipped. So let me just say I apologize for the flame, my temper just got momentarily out of control. :seeya

I had about a dozen emails that my ISP intercepted with RAV anti-virus; I never even saw them - the ISP just informed me that they were infected & had been deleted. This time it seems either your ISP or an intermediate server caught it before it got to me. They forwarded the name of the sender (your email address in this case) as a courtesy.

I'm pleasantly surprised that the ISP/server community is taking pre-emptive action against the onslaught of the buttholes who write this crap.

Thanks to the anti-virus programs the ISPs run, my Norton AV hasn't had to take any action in quite a while! :D
