Ok so i decided i absolutely hate the cross fire and i am done messing with it so carb it is. Do not try and change my mind i don't want to hear it and my mind is made up. That said i don't know a lot about carbs, first i have a comp cams 270H cam sitting brand new on my shelf i would like to use but this is a vacuum less idle cam. Will having a vacuum less idle cam effect the vacuum advance distributor and my carb i am wanting has vacuum secondary's will this effect the way those operate at idle.

The most important thing is you are going to need a very low rise intake and a short air cleaner to fit under a 1984 hood.
FWiW, I think your 270H cam should be fine with a carb'd engine. If you don't have enough vacuum to run your power brakes, etc, you may need to add a vacuum reservoir tank.
Oh... box up your cross-fire up and send it to me... I could use an extra lower manifold to port out and extra throttle bodies to send off to be bored out to 2" and have bushings installed in. I'll reimburse you for the postage...
Already got the manifold, I am using a edelbrock torker 2 intake fits nicely.
That's a good choice for intake from the height side... However it may not be the best combination power wise with an otherwise stock L83 engine because it is designed for high RPM and the stock heads and cam really aren't terribly well suited for that. You will still need to be careful what air cleaner you go with, a really tall one may still not fit under the hood. To be on the safe side there are lots of low profile options you can go with. If you build something yourself it may be possible to still take advantage of the stock hood's cold air intakes.

that manifold makes power up top where the L83 doesnt go often if ever, on my 85 i went with a street warrior, and a holley 670(too big for a stock motor) and just a drop base filter i get a little rubbing but it fits
