Default Snap on MT2500 or Tech 1a

I have a chance to buy either from a retired mechanic.Which one would be the best for a backyard mechanic that checks codes from time to time. Also to help friends with older cars to check for codes.Where I'm at none of the parts places like Auto Zone,Advance have the adapters for older cars.
If anybody knows the Pros and Cons of the two, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

If it were me I'd rather have the mt2500. Both will provide the same information for gm, but the mt2500 will do obdII up to 03 or so with the proper adapters and keys, which are cheap and easy to find on ebay. Just my opinion.

My take GM Tech1a better tool will do more than non oem scanner. The down side it only works on older GM models and it's obsolete no upgrades. The MT2500 will work on all domestic and imports. It may not have all the functions of a dedicated oem scanner. If I found a good cheap Tech1 I with msc, abs, etc cartridges I would get it. Evenly priced MT2500 would have an edge because it is more universal.

MT2500 is pretty neat. Seems to do a lot of stuff.

My problem is finding out if it can do the suspension system or not.
