Good Steering Rack...BAD IDLE!!! [RANT]
Here we go again! John G spent about 4 hours or so putting in the new rack(The last one was defective). He buttoned things up, adjusted the toe so the tires weren't pointing in, started her up and went for a ride. There is a SLIGHT whine coming from either the pump or something. John said it is normal...and might quiet in time. Now, coming down from speed, say approaching a stop sign...it almost dies, then starts fluctuating, then finds it's happy mode. I made a similar post on General Discussion regarding this. It started today doing this. IAC maybe? I replaced it shortly after it returned with the 383. Maybe it needs to re-learn?(From the battery being disconnected?)
You'll get a kick out of this....on my way home to drop off John, the minivan acts up. Felt like someone stomped on the brake pedal and we're losing power.
I tell you! Sometimes I wonder how and why we put up with these cars.
:) Just thought I'd share that.
Hope the car is running better now...prob needed to reset the IAC or relearn the program seeing you had the batt. disconnected for a while.
Should clear up soon...keep us posted.
:)
Car runs nicely. John hooked me up with a paisan to do the alignment. It was in and out literally. Tracks straight...and feels tighter. Doesn't feel 10,000 mile tight...but it DOES have 106K on there.
The idle is slowly getting back to normal. It still hunts JUUUUUST a tick,,, then kind of stabilizes. It's only when decelerating. Fire it up, it'll idle like a caddy.
I'd like to thank John once more for hooking me up with the whole deal, rack, alignment etc. I returned the favor to Him by getting His '92 droptop show ready for the one in Danbury tomorrow.
Thans for replying.
