Should that rubber bush be sat in the cup at all times ??? (The cup is on the rear spring , one either end on the spring )
Ummm no. If I'm looking at the pic correctly. Is that rubber bushing sitting on top of the spring? What is upside down...the pic or the spring? Am I just too tired? You need one at the top bolt and one under the bottom of the spring.
Here's a pic where you can see the bushings.

this is the way it is shown in the FSM, i.e. two bushings...not four.
On my 85 and 91, there is no "cup" on the top of the spring, only the bottom.(?) That bushing also doesn't look like a spring bushing to me. It looks more like a batwing bushing or similar. My spring bushings were tight on the bolt, and the bushing in the pic doesn't look like it's tight on the bolt.
If you need any more info, please let us know.

Here's a photo I took a while Back of the passenger side bushes top and bottom off the rear spring (mines an 84 )
The spring pushed downward. The BUSHING on the top of the spring does nothing. Someone who didn't know much stuck it there. You can leave the BUSHING or take it out. It can't possibly hit anything. Think of how the spring works and it'll make sense to you. BUSHING BUSHING BUSHING A bush is green with branches or...
As you can see I have a bush above and below the top mount then between the two middle bushes there's a tube which the main bolt goes through, if that lot doesn't need to be there and I take them out is there a toque setting I need to use to tighten the bottom nut too ??? Or a measurement between the top of the spring and the bottom of the top mount ???

Reducing tire pressure does make a considerable difference. I was still running at least 32 PSI at the time when I originally posted. Another adjustment worth noting (at least for 84 owners), is the 84 had a one year only part on the rear suspension. This one year part is a sleeve that inserts on the end bolts between the suspension and spring. When we reinstalled with these sleeves, it required tightening the end nuts beyond the point where the cotter pin inserts into the bolt. The rear sat higher, and the spring road harder. Upon removing the sleeve, and threading the nut only as far as to clear the hole to insert the cotter pin, the car sits at the right height and drives better. Thanks for everyone's input
Well There You Go !!!!!!!
Found this on another web site so I'm guessing it was done from factory
