Got a call from my dealer today. Had my 96 CE in getting a checkup. I am making the trip for Labor Day to Bowling Green, and wanted everything checked out before we left. The dealer said that I have very little life left in my brakes. I knew that they were close, just didn't know how close.
I have thought about replacing the rotors and pads on all four corners at the same time. I was thinking about the gold cadmium ones that don't rust. The wife has given the green light as long as I stay under $700.00. My trusted tire guy said that he will put them on for free, (I think that he just likes to drive my car) so the labor is not an issue. Can anyone help me in my quest for some brakes? I only drive it on the street, so I don't need anything too major. Sorry for such a long request on my first post! :)
Welcome to the forum!! Check out the Eradispeed's from Baer. (www.eradispeed.com) I'm ordering mine the end of this month!! About 1300 bucks for everything. 4 rotors, 2 calipers, SS lines, and pads. Thay are Zinc washed and slotted/crossdrilled!!
As for brake pads I really like the NAPA Ceramix. Low dusting, no squeal and they stop very nicely...
I think with rotors you are going to pass the $700 mark pretty quickly. I swore I would never pay $800 for a set of rotors until I saw the Eradispeeds on a car. They are gorgeous. I have also heard that GM now has a slotted, cross-drilled rotor. You might want to check out that price with Jeff Kopp, 18carfan on the forum.
I dont know if you have EBC green stuff pads in the states but i got them in england put them with stock rotors and it stopes on a dime for a cost of about $90 for the front and $65 for the rear almost out brakes a boxter
