Default Recomend a DR

Looking for some 315/35/17 DR. Would like something that will take corners ok for the occasional spirited driving. I had MT ET street II on my supercharged mustang and they hooked great but never really did anything but straight line with them.

I would just but the MT street comp but think they probably don't hook to good. I have read but don't remember what one of the Nittos is far superiors to the other one.

Ready to get my ZR1 wheels on the car.

I've ran most of the various iterations of Nitto, Mickey Thompson, and BFG DRs in the last 10 years. I always go back to Nitto 555 DRs for a tire that is primarily for street use. They hook good on the street, last longer than the others, don't wander, and aren't miserable in the rain until you get down to less than half tread. I haven't ran the NT05R yet though. I hear those hook like crazy at the track but have no idea about their street manners. I run the standard NT05 on my Vette and the 555DR on my GT500.

555R's are a good price. Did you just match the fronts with the 555?

I've got some 17x11's on the way from AFS, and going down to Discount Monday to order a pair of NT05R's. From what I've read, the NT05R's are softer than the 555's, stick better, and hold up pretty well. (your mileage may vary...) I don't put that many miles on my car here in MI, and by the time they wear out, I'll want to try something different anyways.

Normally, yes. The standard 555 are a good tire, too. They don't make the right size for the front of a GT500 though so I went with Michelin Pilot Super Sports (also awesome tires).
