Default TPIS Headers Round Port

I have a 1986 coupe with iron heads. I just received my TPIS LT headers. The headers have a round port and the heads have a rectangular port. I am assuming TPIS knows what they are doing. Can I bolt the headers to my iron heads? Which gasket would I use? I waited almost four months for the headers. I hope I can use them.

They will sswork, They should have come with Felpro 1404 gaskets.

Round ports Ok. Well u want a larger port on the header side as it helps resist the reflected exh pulse wave - reduces exh reversion back into the cyl. If your header port is larger than the head port your doing well. If head port larger than header port u lose the advantage of reduced reversion into cyl. Hard to find round port headers for L98 and LT1 as most mfrs build a D port header to match the D port head. Must be a big secret the D port head is just to turn the exh out of the head and a D port does nothing for the exh flow once its straightened into the header pipe.

BTW i like TPIS products and will be surprised if not correct but please post what u find - it helps us all. U could call TPIS for an answer.

With the numerous headers I have run, sometimes the ports on the headers impinge on the exhaust ports on the heads, especially in the corners. A die grinder takes care of that quickly. Make sure you don't grind through the tubes.
