ran the '96 grandsport at the autocross this weekend..need advice on shocks, the bilsteins on the car are WAY to stiff..what is a good non adjustable shock that still lets you drive without jaring your teeth out??

Stiff is what you want for autoxing, helps keep the rubber on the black top.

You may want to increase the sway bar size; the front OEM bar for the GS is a tubular 26mm bar and the rear is either a 24mm solid (FE1 suspension) or 26mm solid bar (Z51 suspension).

There were two Bilstein shock types for the GS. The FE1 shocks were fairly soft and there was a stiffer Z51-specific Bilstein shock.

Alignment and tire pressure will be factors in autocross performance.

Actually a firmer shock like a Koni may correct the issue. WHen I had stock FE1 springs (similar to yours) and FX3 Bilstiens the wheels would actually come off the ground during bumpy parts of the course.

FE7 (Z07 springs and bars) plus the Koni Yellows fixed this. Car handles WAY WAY better now. If you time to notice the bumps during an auto-x your not going fast enough!
