Default Help with parts

Hi,

I've owned my 1993 c4 for two months now and want to get my hands dirty servicing it myself. Fairly inexperianced, but these are basic DIY things and everyone has to start somewhere.

Being 1993 it's an LT1 engine, last oil change was approx 7000-10,000 miles... previous owner was lazy and really didn't look after the engine judging by the service history, but still goes very well.

I see all these different oil specs, read that vettes need a special oil meeting GM specs, being in australia it's difficult locating parts enough as it is. If someone could point me in the right direction for these parts that would be much appreciated, i can (hopefully not through trial and error) work the rest out.
  • Oil meeting the spec
  • OIl filter
  • Fuel filter

Cheers

Use Mobil 1 synthetic oil 10-30w. I personally like the K&N oil filter because it is a good filter and it has a "nut" on the base to get a wrench on to remove the filter. There are other good filters out there like wix and the NAPA gold. Most stay away from the Fram.

Fuel filters all seem to be okay....no specific brand.

We have a couple members from your area......they can probably steer you in the right direction.

Try sending "gerardvg" a PM.....he is in Melbourne.

The 5W is for people who live in very cold areas. If that is not your situation then I would go with 10W (that's what I use).
