Default '92 LT1 Can't clear code 16

I replaced the optispark and car runs fine but I can't clear the code 16. SES light does not come on. Rebuilt ECM put in 5,000 miles ago. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas would really be appreciated.

Have ' 93,
rebuilt ECM, misc. new or rebuilt, purchased vented opti, installed, fired right up..... code 16 immediately.... could not knock it off......after much searching, found that KOEO, the ECM was reading that the engine was running..... I had with KOEO a Square wave of 4.5 volts.... in my case the square wave was telling the PCM that the high res. was present, the PCM therefore looks for the low res. and it is not present , because nothing is rotating ...... therefore code 16......... this is just my latest experience did not expect new to not function properly........ before I installed the NEW MSD opti I connected it to test KOEO , all is great now...... FYI, Good Hunting, the FSM is invaluable

Thanks for the input. I'm not an electronics guy - what's KOEO, FSM?

Thanks

Ok, thanks and I do have an FSM. Sounds exactly like my situation. If this is essentially a false code would you expect to NOT experience an engine shutdown? That's really my main concern.

A code 16 , read by the PCM will degrade/ retard the timing of vehicle, as if a limp mode, may effect other parameters........ vehicle ran reasonably well,..... if all the diagnostics have been followed through the FSM, it may be prudent to look into why the code is not able to be knocked off...... it took me awhile to get there, just my experience and info for you

You've been a great help. I've had a hard time getting quality info like this.
Thanks.
