Default 1995 starter issue

The car would take around two attempts to start from cold, the first time, you hear a like a motor whine, then attempt again, and it starts up fine. Now, a couple of weeks ago, I drove the car to work down the street, took it back home during my lunch break. When I tried to start the car back up, it started up, but sounded like the starter was still engaged after the motor started, and even kept running a few seconds after I turned the key off! Is this a starter relay issue, or do I need to change the whole starter?

Your bendix is weak or just needs some lube best bet is just replace the starter before you grind your gears up.

I figured the problem would be something like that, but I don't understand the problem of the car keeps running a few seconds after I turn the key off.

Thanks for your help! I think I'll change the starter relay as well as the starter itself.

The ignition switch supplies power to the distributor through the pink wire. When the ignition is turned off the engine should die immediately because the ignition module has no power and can't fire the spark plugs.

Thanks! I'll look into that as well.
