Don't think so man. I suppose you could cut it off. Or you could just buy that hot cam :)

Now that you mention it I remember reading about that on this website
http://www.automotiverebuilder.com/ar/ar99928.htm

In which case you won't be happy with that answer.

well, i wish someone would have mentioned the cams themselves are different between 94 and 95:smash: , and not just the dowel pin. Is there some way to retrofit the new and old optis together? i am in to this project a few weeks now and this could make it take a lot longer!!

could i install just a hot cam, and add roller rockers and springs later:confused:? i am kind of hurting for cash right now!!!

I'm so sorry nobody thought about that. I never gave it a thought and never would have until you mentioned it.

As for the cam yes you CAN install just the hot cam, but let me do some figuring.

Alright. The stock cam is listed as 202/207 .450/.460 116 LSA This is with 1.5 rockers

The Hot Cam is 218/228 .525/.525 112 LSA, listed with 1.6 rockers. So .525 lift would be .492 if it had 1.5 rockers instead.

I don't know for sure what stock LT1 springs will take, I would be worried. I'll tell you what I can do for you if you're interested. I have a set of springs that will handle your cam. They are not great springs but they are not terrible springs. They are internet racer supply's "terminator" valve springs. They were supposed to take a .550 lift. I ran them with my Hot Cam and 1.6 rockers with no troubles for 10k miles. I'm not using them back on my new heads.

So I've got some used springs that will handle the lift you need, they have retainers and seats. I don't I think I actually have the locks, but they are cheap enough. I'll sell them to you for $25 + shipping.

One thing you should be aware of, you do have to change the seats becasue they are double springs, as such you will need new valve seals. Factor another $15 tops for those.

Again I'm sorry that nobody foresaw your cam problems, but maybe I can help you out.

buy the 94 opti and 95 cap and rotor set.
That won't work because he's already converted over to the newer opti drive and extended the drive pin on the cam. So he would have to put his old timing cover & timing set back on it to do that.

well, i think at this point i am just going to order the entire hot cam kit, i don't want to do all this twice, because i do want to add 1.6 RR in the future anyway...i'll have to settle for all that extra power!! :jester

taking the car apart again will be a piece of cake until i get to pulling off the intake, valve covers, etc...i am sure i will have plenty of questions for forum members!!! :)

how much are dues for club hot cam? :jester :jester
