Default 84 Air Conditioning; how well does it work when fully functional?

Team,
Just thinking bout oud and at a crossroads whether to dive in and start working on the AC System on a 1984 that has already been converted to r134.
Wondering to myself with all that glass and 1980a technoligy- how well does the AC System even work when it is up and running well with 134?
Car is at my local shop now and it may be a small or large fix but that's not the case- would like to know how well she works...chilly or cold!
This is in the NY area where it can be hot and muggy almost any summer day. If I lived in Minnesota I probably would not bother.
T Top car if that helps with an answer.

I own a 88 with a transparent top that has been converted to R134A with the C68 digital control. This system is light years ahead of a C3 AC. Air blows cold but the fan does not blow as hard as a C5 and up so it takes a while to cool the interior. I put a static cling sun shade on mine for the Summer months and it helps when car is parked in the sun for several hours.

Do you remember if R12 was colder?

Converted in 2005 so memory is fuzzy but I think R12 was colder but the fan is the same, not as strong as my C6 was or my C7 is now.

Wonder if the aftermarket C4 fan motors spin faster than OEM?

I have a 1984 and had it converted to R134A this spring when the original compressor died. Works pretty well, although I'd like it if the fan had a couple faster speeds. I'm in Texas where it gets really hot, not Yankee lukewarm.
