I don't have an answer for you and I don't recall ever seeing them in an OE/GM package. The fact you had them in an ACD package of brakes isn't surprising because the ACD brand is repackaged product done for ACD by others. I see them in other packages by other vendors BUT I'd guess that all of their product has a single source and just gets their packaging.

i wonder if it is used to check rotor thickness. Can you measure the inside opening and report back?

I dont have rotor in hand, however as far as i remember tool is larger than rotor, so isnt possible to measure it....
Inside two long arms this tool is 25mm larger... Rotor serms to be around 20mm....
http://www.thewrenchmonkey.ca/produc.../wagner/h5480/ Here they say anti rattle kit, but how to use still to be a mistery
What i'm getting in mind looking around in the web, it could be a shim to put temporarily beetween pads and rotor, both sides, in order to align them... In order words the twisting rotor should't touch pads... After had made this Tight bolts and remove this shim obiouvsly

I can't recall ever seeing one of these. I'm running NAPA Ceramix pads on mine, and they didn't come with anything like this.

Imo you had to put it beetween rotor and pads, reinstall caliper piston on, tight bolts push a couple of time on brake pedal, and remove it.

Same here. I wonder if they're designed to go between the "O.D." of the pad and the "I.D." of the caliper. The pads already have springs on them to accomplish the same thing...but maybe this would augment it? IDK.
Installing them between the pad and rotor during assy doesn't make any sense to me. I don't see the purpose.
