I know there is a specific torque spec for the knock sensors. What is it and what if anything do you put on the threads?
I removed my knock sensors so I could fully drain the block. This way I could get all of the water out of the head bolt holes and possibly get an accurate torque reading on them.
Re: Torque spec for knock sensors? (Nathan Plemons)
14 ft lbs for torque manual says any added coatings to threads will quote negatively affect the ability of the sensor to detect knocking hope this helps
Actually, teflon tape is good to desensitize the knock sensor. It's a quick fix for those experiencing "false knock".
For stock performance of the sensor, the most I'd use is a light blast of WD-40 to make the install easier. Make sure to hit the torque correctly.... over tightening will make the sensor more sensitive.
